We are excited to welcome 2 new graduate students into our lab this semester!
Kegan Sowers began at the beginning of the summer to get a head start on research before classes began. Kegan is a M.S. student who completed his B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics at Virginia Tech. He has hit the ground running with his work to program and successfully 3D print hydrogels embedded with RAW 264.7 cells. Suraj Kandalam is a new M.S. student from here at Virginia Commonwealth University. His previous research experience was focused on product development in Biomedical Engineering and is excited to switch his focus to animal studies and wet lab experiments. His project will bring to light the detrimental effects of smoking E-cigarettes while pregnant by using mouse models. ![]() We officially have our first successful thesis defense from Ms. Nancy Ayad. She did an amazing job in her project focused on the "Effects of Antidepressants on Human Mesenchymal Stem Cell Differentiation on Clinically Relevant Titanium Surfaces." All of her hard work paid off and she now works up in Maryland at Leidos, while still working to finish the final edits of her 2 publications from work she did here at VCU. |
